Leszek Komosa - Powroty (Master Tape)

For many years, I thought about returning to music, which had been my greatest passion during my childhood and youth, but I always lacked the time, motivation, and inspiration to pursue the passions of my youth.

After graduating from college in Lublin in 1994, my contact with music became only sporadic and was limited to playing the piano or guitar at social or family gatherings.

When I turned 50, I began to view the passage of time and the meaning of life differently; I started counting the years and taking stock of what I had achieved up to that point.

Fate has been kind to me

I have the chance to discover the world and get to know different cultures. On my numerous trips around the world, I have seen both many of the world’s wonders and its dark sides—appalling poverty and the negative impact of human activity on nature.

All these experiences stir up many different emotions in me—ranging from happiness and anger to sadness and a sense of helplessness.

I felt the need to express my feelings through music…

At the turn of the year 2022/2023, I took a music production course at the Academy of Sound in Warsaw. This course laid the foundation for me to begin working on my album.

Originally, I had planned to record all the material in my small studio in the countryside near Warsaw. My plan was to burn the music onto CDs after recording and send them as keepsakes to my closest family members and friends.

Once I had arranged all the pieces, I had the idea to record the violin solos for some of them live in a professional studio.

After Konrad Witkowski recorded the live violin at Marcin Staniszewski’s studio, I realized that my music sounded completely different from what I had produced using so-called plug-ins in my own studio.

That’s when I realized that only real instruments can truly convey my emotions.

For several months, I experimented with various musicians, recorded individual instruments in different recording studios, and compiled the finished material for the recording of the final instrument—the saxophone.

Things moved along quite quickly…

I made plans to meet with Grzech Piotrowski, whom I had met many years ago. Grzech is an outstanding musician, composer, and saxophonist. I asked him to record the saxophone solo parts.

When I drove to his place with my recorded material, Grzech declined to play the saxophone, explaining that my music had the potential to be recorded professionally.
