Master Tape
With Liberated Fantasies, recorded in 1976, George Duke presented an instrumental jazz fusion album, even though one can already identify clear echoes of R&B and rock vocals. It marked his stylistic change towards a focus on R&B. Of particular note are Duke's funky lead vocals on "Don't Be Shy", the almost delicately interpreted soul number "Seeing You", and standing in counterpoint, the rock voice of Napoleon Brock on "Trying And Crying".
The recordings are now available in unprecedented sound quality. The original analogue recordings from 1976 form the basis of Christoph Stickel's unobtrusive "refurbishing" which aims to avoid any artistic intervention. You, the valued listener, will be transported back into the sound engineer's chair at the time of recording.
