In 1985, YELLO achieved their international breakthrough with their fourth LP, "Stella," which propelled Dieter Meier and Boris Blank to the top of the Swiss charts – making them the first domestic band to reach number 1 on the Swiss charts. In Germany, the album reached number 6 on the charts and was awarded a gold record.
While YELLO was previously considered a well-kept secret, the entire pop world now focused on the Zurich duo. With the mega-hit "Oh Yeah," YELLO made its first mark on international pop culture: after the song, which was not originally planned as a single, entered the international charts, a veritable hype developed when "Oh Yeah" was featured in the soundtracks of the blockbuster films "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986) and "The Secret of My Success" (1987), delighting millions worldwide.
